How to create enduring iconic design2013-12-02

Designers from april6th had cordial talk with Creative Director of Bang and Olufsen Torsten Valeur. Discussing about how to create enduring iconic design from western and eastern perspectives in the era of globalization.
Bang & Olufsen (B&O) was founded in 1925 by two young Danish engineers Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen with meager funds; a small attic was rented as their factory. 80 years later, two engineers’ thoughts continue, B & O’s success provides endless inspiration for the design community. B & O was born in town of Quistrup, Denmark, which has become one of the most influential and valuable brand in Denmark. B & O products have become the symbol of Danish quality.
After an intense discussion, designers from April6th and Torsten reached a consensus view, that is enduring design is closely connecting with people and the environment; designers should always pay attention to observe people; building the relationship between people and environment is the only way to keep the enduring design.
The final solution is human-oriented. The key point is how designers explain the profound meaning. The only way to keep review the human-oriented thinking again and again. Then, they can realize the close connection between objects and users, and come up with better design.
